There are a plenty of great fitness and diet products on the internet, with new offerings being released by the day.

With the rapid evolution of the internet and social media platforms, the way we get our information has really changed the game for a lot of people who feel like they have the knowledge to create a product that can help people.  

As consumers, we have access to incredible amounts of information, all from the comfort of home.  Learning movement training via the internet is fantastic.  The delivery of the information through high definition video and other media platforms makes it feel like the movement trainer is right there with you.  

In the earlier days of the internet, to be a digital author or entrepreneur meant you had to be somewhat tech savvy.  

That is no longer the case, and we as consumers are being rewarded for it.

Anybody can create a brilliant product and share it with the world.  One could make an argument that with each great information product there are probably 10x as many crappy products.  

But, knowing where to look is important.  It will save you time from sifting through all of the junk to find the gems.  

There’s so much great information floating around the internet and it has never been as accessible as it is right now. 

FACT: You could design an entire workout program off of FREE YouTube videos alone.  It would take you a while to put it all together, but it could be done.  

As I work on creating my own products, I have to acknowledge and give the head nod to several different products and people who are influencing the market and my own fitness practice the most right now.

One important thing I frequently share with people is this:  Following a system is an extremely powerful way to get the results you want.  

A system is often designed with acknowledgment of the one major foundational principle of success in building physical fitness and great nutritional habits: PROGRESSION.

What follows is a short list of products I have used in my own physical practice or I commonly recommend to others who are seeking advice.  The people are the products, so the all credit needs to be given to all of the authors and teachers below.  

Movement Training

I am a huge fan of Ido Portal and his work in the movement realm.  Few are doing it better than he is (in my opinion), but the fact is he’s got no program to follow, so we must look for alternatives to the Ido Portal Method.  

Fortunately, there are some amazing movement systems/programs out there: 

Animal Flow

Mike Fitch’s Animal Flow is a ground based movement training using animal-like (primal) exercises to create flows and sequences.  If you enjoy Ido’s locomotion exercises, you will find this to be comparable and possibly more interesting.  Animal Flow founder Mike Fitch is at the top of his game right now with several other products including Global Bodyweight Athlete (below).  Animal Flow is currently spreading like wildfire, a great change-up to the extreme fitness trends. 

In case you’re wondering, the Animal Flow DVD series has several distinct advantages over The Ido Portal Method:

  1. It’s a well-organized, documented, complete training system.
  2. It won’t cost you $3,000-$5,000 to learn it.  

Sorry Ido, the results you’re getting with clients is amazing but at a brutal price point.  

 

Global Bodyweight Training

Global Bodyweight Training is a hybrid fitness program fusing elements of several disciplines: hand balancing, gymnastics, bodyweight strength training, locomotion, crawling, tumbling, etc.   

Personally, I am using many of Mike’s exercises from Global Bodyweight Training in my own practice and seeing tremendous results from week to week.  I did have a great base of strength and conditioning beforehand, but I don’t feel it’s necessary.  I’m merely expanding my movement capacity.     

 

Ultimate Athleticism

Max Shank’s “Ultimate Athleticism” is a fantastic blend of strength and conditioning, gymnastics and yoga training.  Max is a world-class mover, teacher along with being plastered all over fitness magazines and websites. 

I love the well-roundedness of Ultimate Athleticism.  

A lot of programs build one quality at the expense of another.  Often times it’s a trade-off: health instead of aesthetics, performance instead of health, and aesthetics instead of both health and performance.  

There are no trade-offs in Ultimate Athleticism.  It’s obvious Max wanted to build a balanced product to teach sustainable fitness.  Health, strength, and flexibility are at the forefront.  Great product.  

 

Diet and Nutrition

There are many ways to peel an onion, and there are many ways to go about establishing your nutrition habits.  Much like fitness, you’ve got to stick to the plan long enough for it to work.  Many people make the mistake of quitting on their newfound diet too early.

If there was a magic bullet in the journey to getting lean, improving health biomarkers, building muscle, losing fat, fueling performance, etc… it’s without a doubt establishing effective nutritional habits.  

If you’re ready to stop messing around with nutrition and start getting results, here are some products and programs to get you going: 

 

Eat Stop Eat

Eat Stop Eat is a premiere Intermittent Fasting product.  Brad Pilon hit a home run with this product by releasing it at the peak of the Intermittent Fasting craze, and it’s been a staple ever since.  The principles of the Eat Stop Eat diet are supported by science, which brings a tremendous amount of credibility to Brad’s work.  It is one of the most in-depth Intermittent Fasting products on the market, anywhere.  

Remember, Intermittent Fasting is better classified as a “pattern” of dieting since you’re essentially taking scheduled breaks from eating food.  Don’t be surprised by massive results with Intermittent Fasting because if you execute the principles consistently, the results unreal.

Brad’s newest product, Anabolic Again, is designed specifically for males.  Sorry ladies.  

 

The Renegade Diet

Jason Ferrugia has been publishing quality fitness products for professionals and general population consumers alike for well over 10 years.  The Renegade Diet marked his entrance into the diet realm.  This book is based on a perfect combination of supportive science and common sense application.  No diet is going to work if you cannot figure out how to integrate it into your everyday life.  Jason crushed it with this diet program. 

Ladies don’t be scared off by the cover of the book, this diet doesn’t discriminate, it’s for everyone.  

 

Check back to this page from time to time.  My recommendations will inevitably shift as my opinions evolve.  For now, these are the products with the biggest bang for your buck.
